Italian TaralleAngie Dellos A holiday cookie in the shape of a horseshoe.
Ingredient | | Eggs | | Vegetable Oil | | Sugar | | Salt | | Anise Flavoring | | Flour | | Jam | | Raisins | | Walnuts | | Breadcrumbs | | Powdered Sugar |
| | Quantity | | 6 | - | | 1/2 | cup (may substitute melted Crisco) | | 1/2 | cup | | pinch | | 1 | tsp. | | enough to make a medium dough | | (may substitute applesauce) | | - | | chopped | | (if needed) | | as desired |

Instructions | Mix dough ingredients. Roll out into a thin rectangle. Place 1 tablespoon onto dough approx. 1" apart. Fold dough over and cut with a cookie cutter in the shape of a horseshoe. Close edges tight by pressing with a fork along the fold. Filling: Mix jam, applesauce, raisins, nuts, chocolate chips. (If filling is too soft, add breadcrumbs to thicken.) Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown. |
